I am a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Southern California and currently serve as President of the Australian and New Zealand Studies Association of North America and Treasurer of the English School Section of the International Studies Association.
SHORT BIO
I am a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Southern California and currently serve as President of the Australian and New Zealand Studies Association of North America and Treasurer of the English School Section of the International Studies Association. Before joining USC, I was Assistant Professor of International Relations in the Pacific Studies Department at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. I have also been visiting scholar in the Edward A. Clark Center for Australian and New Zealand Studies and the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection at the University of Texas at Austin, and the Centre for Defence and Security Studies at Massey University in New Zealand.
My research and teaching focuses on international relations theory, political theory, international political economy, global financial governance, and the international relations of the Indo-Pacific region. I am particularly interested in order and justice in international society, and their political and economic manifestations. My dissertation analyses the historical evolution of the Bank for International Settlements and its pivotal role in global financial governance. By using an English School approach to international political economy and network society theory, I examine how this sui generis, largely unaccountable institution has been able to acquire such an immensely powerful position and shape international financial rules without major political interference.
